Brian Patrick Green, PhD, is the director of technology ethics at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University. He works on various initiatives including the Ethics in Tech Practice corporate applied ethics curriculum, the Partnership on Artificial Intelligence to Benefit People and Society, The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, the SCU Technology and Ethics Faculty Group, the SCU Ethics Bowl team, the Markkula Center’s Environmental Ethics Fellows, and teaching ethics in SCU’s School of Engineering. Green’s undergraduate degree is in genetics from the University of California, Davis and he has doctoral and master’s degrees in ethics and social theory from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. His research interests include the ethics of emerging technologies, AI and ethics, the ethics of space exploration, the ethics of technological manipulation of humans, and various aspects of the impact of technology and engineering on human life and society.
