Keynote

Google is offering a reward of $36 million as part of its Lunar X-Prize to have the first privately funded robot to travel to the moon, drive a distance of 500 meters, and then transmit video, images and data back to Earth. Famed roboticist William “Red” Whittaker has taken up the challenge and formed Astrobotic Technology.

Astrobotic intends to a spacecraft containing a robot and commercial payload in the Moon’s Sea of Tranquility, deploy the robot and begin broadcasting. Attendees at this compelling session will learn of Astrobotic’s plans, as well as the promise and pitfalls of developing robots to operate on the Moon.
